February 8, 2012 Me, talking
These next two tracks were exercises both in writing for broadcast and recording. I can only hope that the subjects were made up, but even so, pieces of a baby found flushed down a toilet? Really? I didn’t realise Bret Easton Ellis was writing NCTJ exams. I think these examples of my effete lisp are [...]

January 17, 2012 A play without words and some thoughts on attractiveness
Yesterday we were loaned expensive recording devices and instructed to tell a story without words. This involved questionable bathroom conduct and some multitrack fun with Adobe Audition. And today I was asking people around campus what they found attractive in members of the same sex.

November 28, 2011 Video Killed the Radio Star
I’ve decided to put my stratospheric rise to the peak of radio broadcasting on hold for the time being. Perhaps I’ll go back to it once the NCTJ exams are out of the way or perhaps it’s not the right medium for me. There was the feeling that I was just one slip of the [...]

November 24, 2011 God is in the Radio
My Mother once said to me, “You can go to Australia on your own but you can’t go down the corner shop.” I find that succinct in a way no GP, shrink or bar-room confidant as yet has managed. I can’t seem to get out of this slump but the show goes on around me [...]

October 27, 2011 Radio Friendly Unit Shifter
Tuesday just gone was my second assault on the airwaves. It went well. Things are getting more and more hands-on and my nervous jabbering is beginning to be mistaken for a growing competence that would lend itself to its own show. The persons in charge want to push out new programming and they also want [...]

October 24, 2011 Man shot. Best friend blamed.
We had our first dummy press conference today. We had an hour to write a story based on our notes. I was an idiot and left out the part about the family Alsation being unable to save the day as he was at the vet with an injured paw. His name was Wallace. Bad dog. [...]

October 18, 2011 Radio Ga Ga
I got to the Click station early and after babbling my usual brand of confused and terrified explanations I was shown to the studio where a broadcast was in full swing. Two girls were being shown the ropes by a chap I took to be a Professional but they were giving it such gusto that I was [...]

October 18, 2011 Arson Murder Kills Local Family
We were given the details of the following made-up incident and asked to write a news story about it. This is my first time, be gentle. Four people are dead and a fifth is fighting for his life today following a suspected arson attack on a Middlesbrough home. John Brown, 54, his wife Gillian, [...]

October 7, 2011 Sam
The following was a Newswriting and newsgathering exercise. Samuel Howitt is an atheist. He is also a big fan of Charlie Brooker, Depeche Mode and the films of David Lynch. Sam Howitt has met Robin Williams.

October 5, 2011 Animation
So, in furthering my bid to get all the old crap together in once place, here are the videos I made during my multimedia design years at Aarhus Tech. I’m trying to get into a habit of writing again so I will include a narrative and the odd puerile joke or two. 1. Airport This video – [...]
